Biography:  Erica Howard teaches instrumental music at Hartford Memorial Middle School and Hartford High School in White River Junction, Vermont. She conducts the high school concert band and jazz band as well as the 7th grade band, 8th grade band and middle school jazz band. Additionally she, along with colleague Robert Gattie, co-host auditions for the New England Music Festival and Vermont All State festival each year. Prior to this position she served as the sixth grade through twelfth grade music teacher for three years at Chincoteague Combined School in Chincoteague Island, Virginia. Ms. Howard graduated from Plymouth State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. In 2002 she received her Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from Ithaca College. She has performed with the Ithaca College Trombone Troupe at the 2001 Eastern Trombone Workshop in Fort Meyers, Virginia and the annual Frühling Posaunen ("Spring Trombones") at the Eastman School of Music and Penn State University. Ms. Howard has also been a trombonist in many ensembles including: the Eastern Shore Brass Quintet, Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, the Catskills Chamber Orchestra, Utica Symphony and is currently a trombonist in the Plymouth State University Symphonic Band. Ms. Howard has conducted at the Ithaca College Trombone Day, the Ithaca College Trombone Troupe and the 2009 Winooski Valley Music Festival middle school band. Ms. Howard is an active member of MENC, Vermont Music Educator's Association and the International Trombone Association. This is the second term of service for Ms. Howard as band manager for the New England Music Festival Association.
